Cold therapy

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy, also known as cryosurgery, is a treatment that removes sunspots, and treat common skin cancers, such as some tiny BCCs, and SCC in situ (also known as Bowen’s disease) by using extremely cold temperatures (liquid nitrogen) to destroy cancer cells.

Cryotherapy is an innovative and minimally invasive approach to treat a range of common skin cancers and ailments, from warts and tags to certain types of cancer.

The extreme cold removes cancer cells with no need for open surgery, allowing most people to quickly bounce back without much pain afterwards.

How long does cryotherapy take to heal?

It can take up to six weeks to heal some of the treated areas. Cryotherapy is highly reliable and produce excellent results. The surface of the treated skin often appears to be quite clean. Even after the skin has healed, it may still have the appearance of a dull blemish or scarring that is white in colour.

How cold is cryotherapy?

The temperature of cryotherapy chambers is -230 degrees F in nitrogen chambers. Most patients using cold therapy for a healthy lifestyle tend to want a warmer temperature to keep them comfortable and healthy.

Cautery

Curettage diathermy

Curettage and cautery is a highly efficient procedure for treating low-risk skin malignancies and pre-cancerous lesions. With high cure rates of up to 96%, it offers great cosmetic results in a short amount of time. Minimal equipment needs are required, allowing same-daycare services without the need for an elaborate operating theatre. The procedure is performed by an experienced doctor, using a curette and local anesthetic to remove the skin lesion. Low temperatures prevent bleeding and destroy cancer cells. Open wounds can heal quickly with proper care, with shallow lesions on arms/torso healing within 2-4 weeks in healthy individuals. Post-care can be stress-free, as there is no need to return or restrict physical activity due to risk of dehiscence.

Flaps & Grafts

Surgical excision

The size of a skin cancer lesion significantly influences the treatment approach.

Smaller lesions can be treated with local anaesthetics, while larger ones require more complex procedures like skin graft or skin flaps. Sedation may be necessary depending on the severity of the case.

Careful consideration is required when treating any form of skin cancer, from minor excisions to radical resection and reconstruction techniques. The priority is to remove cancerous cells and surrounding healthy tissue while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.

Skin graft

It is a complex reconstructive procedure used for large skin cancers, where the wound is closed by harvesting healthy tissue from a donor site.

Skin flaps

They are used when a basic ellipse is insufficient, providing a satisfactory cosmetic outcome. Expert surgical techniques are essential for recurrence of skin cancer, such as removing lymph nodes if they suspect spreading.

Cream

Topical treatment

Certain skin issues, such as spots and superficial cancers can be treated with specialised creams. Immunotherapy cream works by activating the body’s immune system to target cancer cells while chemotherapy options are used for sunspots or cases of Bowen’s Disease. It is important not to self prescribe these creams – they should only ever be applied on affected areas that have been medically assessed!

To ensure that your skin is in the best of health, a Skin Health Assessment with Dr Gilles Laur need to take place. During this consultation process, Dr Laur deeply assesses your skincare history and past experiences to create tailored strategies for you specifically. This way, we can effectively manage all kinds of skin conditions; from sun protection guidelines to medical methods for chronic issues!

Questions And Answers

After cancer treatment, the fear of a recurrence can often linger. In some cases, this worry is warranted as there are many factors that come into play when considering if and when it could return. Such elements include the specific type and stage of cancer originally diagnosed as well as how much time has elapsed since its initial diagnosis or treatment; your doctor holds valuable insight on assessing these risks for you with respect to potential reoccurrences so make sure to reach out!

Skin cancer sufferers have a high likelihood of being struck by the disease again – up to half may find themselves dealing with another unwelcome diagnosis within five years. It’s important for those affected to seek ongoing medical attention and take all necessary precautions, as skin cancers can be incredibly aggressive if left unchecked.

After treatment for cancer, follow-up care is essential to help ensure that signs of the disease don’t return. Your doctor will create a unique plan just for you – steering your health in the right direction and keeping an eye out for any warning flags. Regular monitoring can detect abnormal cells growing before they result in further symptoms or test results, making it important to attend those appointments even when life gets busy!

With a simple three-step skincare regimen, you can have your most glowing complexion ever! Start by cleansing your face with lukewarm water, and then adding in the “treating” step. This includes using special serums full of nutrient packed ingredients, including vitamin C, retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, plus others tailored to help target any problem areas for maximum results. Finally, top it all off with moisturising, which locks these powerful products in place so you don’t miss out on their benefits – leaving skin looking radiant each day!

Your skincare routine should be tailored to the time of day, as different products call for morning and evening use. Making small changes can go a long way towards improving your complexion – from subtle adjustments in product choice all the way through to adding or subtracting steps you already have!

Taking proper care of your skin is essential. To do this, following a 5 step skincare routine can help you start down the path for clean and healthy looking skin!

First up: use a gentle cleanser morning and night to ensure all environmental stressors are washed away from your face.

Next comes toner — think of it like an extra deep cleaning that helps take off any dirt or oil left behind post-wash! Just when you thought you were done,

Micro nutrient treatment follows; giving nourishment back into the skin with its beneficial vitamins and minerals.

For further protection against aging signs, layered serums provide delightful hydration, before transitioning onto moisturiser as one more protective seal across your facial masterpiece, finishing with sunsreen!

Taking care of your skin is crucial, and one major way you can do that is by guarding it from the sun’s rays. Longterm exposure to UV light might give you wrinkles – not only causing unflattering aging effects but also potentially increasing the chances of getting serious cancer! Remember: SPF all day; stay safe in those summer days!
